Rated 5 out of 5 by srcitizen from can't beleive it was free I purchased an older model a few years ago, but never hooked it up. When I recently decided to use it the ink (black) would not work. I called Brother and they made suggestions - all which I had used with no result. So the person handling my problem did some research and checked with her superiors and got the ok to send me this reconditioned printer at no cost! I couldn't believe it! The machine is wireless only (who cares?) It easily hooked up in less than thirty minutes and works like a dream. I had a paper jam and that was super easy to remove. I couldn't be happier with my Brother machine and will always think of them first for other computer needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mudhop from Excellent Printer for the Price Purchashed this printer on sale at a very resonable price. Had a little trouble connecting it to my wireless network so I called the Brother Customer Service. My call was answered promptly and in a short period of time your representative was able to assist me in getting the printer connected to my wireless network. Some of the best customer support that I have received on any product. I have a brother black laser printer for most of my printing so this printer is not used very much only when I need a color copy. Color is a little washed out but it serves my purpose well. Very good printer for the initial price and the price per page.

Rated 3 out of 5 by TheRealDaveD from No sheet feeder. Big delay after each copy. Don't you find it odd that this printer has duplexing, but no sheet feeder? You can only print on paper that you put in the paper cartridge. And there is no straight-through path that would permit you to print on stiff paper. When copying from the glass, there is a long -- like 30 second -- pause after the last copy, with lots of whirring and internal noises. If, for example, you want to copy 12 checks, 3 at a time, plan on the 30-second whatever-it-is after each set of 3. The ADF is OK; it only occasionally misfeeds. Printing is OK in speed and quality. It's quick to set it to draft mode, which presumably saves ink. Noise is moderate. Wireless and scanning set up easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Will2 from Happy with Brother Products I have purchased and used the Brother MFC product for over 15 years. I used the MFC in my business and have purchased 15-20 machines over the years. The MFC accomplishes what I want from the machine and at a very reasonable price. I did have some problems getting the Brother Software to load the drivers. I am running Windows 8 and that may have been part of the problem. The Support people were very responsive and quickly solved the installation problem. The J470DW is very fast and makes a good print. The scanner gets the job done that I need it for. I do not use the fax function. I rely on email. I really like the wireless connection and it works fine. I would have no problem recommending this machine to my friends.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Mayfiat from I read bad review & ignored it. This machine was bought and taken out of the box on June 7th. I've printed once since then. Every time I turn it on there is an error message in the LCD display that refers to a network issue. It is not what I want to see after the painstaking effort I put into this machine to set it up initially, the right way. I remember a couple of folks mentioning difficulty in connecting successfully to their network. I should have taken heed to their words and reviews. This machine is just sitting now as I don't feel like a high-maintenance piece of equipment that I have to tinker with often. I seriously want to return it to Office Depot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Nanaedie from Notsosure This is my 5th printer. All others were HP. I don't like HP's attitude so decided on a Brother. However, HP printers were all very easy and user friendly until they stopped working. This Brother printer is not easy to use. I tried to enlarge a copy but could not get it to work. With HP it is done right on the key pad. When copying from the internet it prints to the right and off the paper. Black or color, with HP just push a button on the key pad; with Brother I have to go into the program. Too time consuming. Why no light on the printer reminding me to turn it off? It would help if the instruction manual had EVERYTHING outlined. I still need to explore and see if I can figure it all out .

Rated 5 out of 5 by FulglasTechie from Excellent Product at Great Price I'm a long time Brother MFC customer. I've used them in both my home business and home schooling. This is my third Brother device (all different models) and this one is the best by far. I especially like the wireless printing feature because I can be any where in my house and print with no issue. I have Windows 10 Pro and this device connects perfectly. My last MFC printer was used when I received it. I had it for about 5 years and at the time it was given to me the previous user had it for about 2 or 3 years. When I gave it away to purchase this MFC-J470DW it was still working very well. I'm a Brother customer for life.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Gaileegirl from Always a Problem! Ever since I purchased the above item, it hasn't stopped giving me issues. I am NOT a technician and every other time I want to print something, I get messages that "printer is off line" or "paper jam", etc. I find that I have to restart my laptop in order for the printer to print! I am not aware if unplugging it and then plugging it back in would cause more issues so I hesitate about doing that. When I tried to get a technician to help me, I got "Just Answer" and there are technicians on their website but as it turned out, it would have to cost me alot of money and they wound up charging me even though no technician ever helped me!
