Rated 5 out of 5 by JimUlster from Very solid performer I purchased this machine to replace a MFC 7340 which I had happily used for four years. The drum unit was near the end of its life and I wanted the benefits of the wireless feature. I had difficulty getting the wireless connection to work with the cd's provided. However, Brother customer service was very helpful in completing installation on my two household computers. I am very satisfied with the performance of the unit as printer, scanner and copier. The scanning software is considerably improved over the MFC 7340 and now scans multiple pages as a single file. I have not attempted to use the fax feature and therefore have no comment on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DR818 from Great Value This is my second Brother multifunction laser printer. I purchased the first one years ago and it's still going strong with my son at college. I decided to get a new one for the duplexing feature which you can't find anywhere at this price. The feature works beautifully. The print quality looks as good as a printer costing 3x as much. The scanner and fax (who ever faxes anymore?) work great. This is a great machine for home, school or a small office. My only issue is that the manual feed doesn't always grasp the paper on the first try. Similar to my last one and I had hoped they would have improved it. A minor inconvenience. Maybe the next model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SophieS from I love my new toy!! After fighting against our old HP Photosmart inkjet printer for months, we finally got this glowing new toy Brother MFC-7860DW!! I could not believe a big company like HP could not develop a Windows 7 compatible driver for their printers! I fell in love with the Brother printer the same day I got it, which is today! The installing driver is so compatible to our Windows 7 64x system. The installing process is smooth. The keyboards on the printer are so comfortable. Wireless printing and scanning works pretty well too. Perfect choice for home and small business use! Very cost effective compared to other products on the market!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Maverick from Second to none Like all the other reviews, this printer is extremely easy to setup. Use a usb cable for first initial setup even for wireless network just to program it to talk to your network. Once done, rest of computers just run the software and done. I've had problems in the past trying to set networks up before but as long as you read the instructions wich are easy to understand, takes less then 5 minutes! This is the best machine I ever purchased, use it constantly in my home network shared with 1 pc, 2 laptops, & 2 smart phones. Highly recommend to everyone. Truely is a multifunction center, takes a lot of work out of easy printing, scanning, copying and faxing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by AverageBrother from Excellent Do-It-All Printer I have gone three Brother printers in the five or six years. Each has performed well. Each new printer has been an upgrade. The MCF-7860 seems to have all the features that I will need for a while. This upgrade included the automatic document feeder. I regularly scan documents of 5, 10, or 20 pages. The auto feeder eliminates that walk across the room to place the next page in the scanner. The scanner software provided with the printer is good, but with the 7860 I can use software already installed on my laptops to created PDFs (literally at the press of a button). What took 20 to 30 minutes to do without the auto feeder, now takes less than one minute.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TLC808 from Great printer and HP Killer I dumped my HP and picked up the MFC-7860DW. Set up was a breeze. Quality is great. Being able to print in duplex make all the sense in the world. I'm saving trees. Hints to save toner, drop down the quality of the print, even the lowest setting is fine for letters. I find I don't need to have a color printer and when I do, I can just go down the street and pay a couple buck to print in bulk. Cheaper then ink. The scanner works great, black and white or in color. You can load and scan or copy multiple sheets of paper. If this printer got stolen, I would replace it with the same one. If my needs change and I decide I need to have a color printer, I will get the color version.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JBL1 from Nice machine Overall satisfied with the unit but have a few issues. Disappointed with the toner usage. Although it was clearly stated 1200 pieces for the small toner my first started failing at only 850. Setting the printer on toner saver mode for the next cartridge helped but copies are fair. Photo copies are dark and poor quality on normal settings and to light on "lighter" setting, particularly when there is shading in the background. My Inkjets do a much better job. Lastly, the wifi connection is knocked out when we have lightening storms (daily in the summer here in Florida) and the router has to be rebooted. My four other PC's & printers do not do this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by sdwharris from Great machine This MFC is easy to use, economical on supplies and normally presents no problems. This is my second Brother MFC. There is only one issue that I've experienced with both machines, and that is the plastic parts of the paper tray. The plastic tab stop located on the back part of the paper tray breaks after a few months of use and doesn't hold the paper in the tray correctly, which prevents printing due to paper handling issues. The only solution I've found for the problem is to replace the entire tray, which I've had to do a total of three times so far. Other than this issue it is a great machine for the price and a real workhorse.
