Rated 5 out of 5 by Rickt from A Great Shredder This is a great shredder if you need a compact one -- and one that moves easily on wheels without tipping -- mine rolls on a tightly woven rug with no problem. The auto paper thickness measurement works well and clearly warns if you've loaded in too much. It's reasonably quiet and can also chew up credit cards and CDRs, though I haven't tried that yet. Nice that it comes with applicator bottle of shredder oil. I never knew these things needed to have the cutters oiled to keep them functioning at top capacity -- that's obviously why my very old Fellows eventually died -- but it makes perfect sense given what these machines do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AuntZee from A Startling Surprise I’m a collector, an octogenarian, so have for many years saved cards, letters and poetry from my husband, mother, children and friends; love letters from old boyfriends; receipts, and records of work and business, all too personal to throw in the curbside trash. Did I want my children to encounter this mountain of paper clutter? NO! So I bought three shredders one-by-one. By file fifteen, or less in one case, they clattered, stopped, had to be begged to take one sheet at a time. Finally growing discouraged I started looking at other people’s opinions of better shredders; perusing reviews by those who’d tested several shredders and discovered the Fellowes PS-79Ci had a good reputation. I bought one, however I was dubious of its staying power. I am having a grand surprise. To empty the previous shredders I had to lift off the tops which were awkward and heavy. And they all filled much too quickly. My Fellowes container is large enough to hold one stuffed file which works for me, the weight being just right to manage as I slide out the basket and dump the pieces into a garbage bag. Too often the other shredders were hot, quit working, always before I could get the contents of one file folder through them. This shredder gets hot after about three stuffed files. That’s just right, too, for I’m tired of sitting by then, ready to walk around for awhile, smell my roses and admire the moss rose … or start lunch, drink a cup of coffee, relax. Forty-six large black garbage bags of shredded paper later, I am thankful to all of the people who suggested I buy one. I estimate I have forty-six more bags at least to go, but now have the faith … my Fellowes is up to the job. And happily, in a final win-win, a nephew is plowing under the shredded material as mulch for his next year’s garden so my lifelong collection of memories will live on. I visualize them now … as tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mschief from Wonderful!! This is the best shredder I've encountered for an operation of our size. We use it often, every day, and haven't had a jam yet. We're also impressed with the quiet operation. Great value for a small price. Everyone here wants one for their own home offices. Only complaint is with the bags... they don't hold very much, and are difficult to seal when full. The bin could use some redesign. The full bags catch and tear on projections within the bin when being removed. We solved that problem by shredding directly into the bin. It's simple enough to just empty it into a large bag which is discarded when full...also saves us the expense of bags!

Rated 5 out of 5 by heybay from Great ... but Really love this shredder. I like the quietness. I really like the safety shut off feature. I would have appreciated clearer instructions on putting on the casters. They didn't just pop in. I took a rubber mallet and tapped them until they went all the way in. One more thing is the plastic piece on the inside of the container. I believe this is the piece that inserts into a slot that tells the shredder the bin is closed and it's ok to work. This is the piece that broke on the last shredder I had, which wouldn't work after that plastic piece broke. I really expected the Fellowes to have a metal piece here that won't break off. Only time will tell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mistaketz from Excellent Shredder My old shredder recently died- so I did some research and found the Fellowes PS-79Ci was rated very favorably in several comparisons. No disappointment whatsoever. I can't believe I used this other brand shredder for so long. The PS-79Ci is so much more quiet. It's efficient- so much more easier to unload the shredded paper using a pull-out drawer, plus it's a decent size container. The warning system for too much paper works well, and the jam protection is great. I'm also impressed with the quality of construction- and the casters add a great convenience. Yes- it might be a little more than a cheapo shredder for home use, but well worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AnchorUp from SuperShredder Being newly hired at a public transit agency, I soon saw that I would need to purchase a shredder; however, not just any shredder would do. It had to be reliable, it had to be as jam-proof as possible and it had to be compact enough to fit in my small office. To say I am pleased with my Fellowes PS-79Ci shredder is an understatement! It shreds confidential material with ease. It even shreds CDs, paperclips and staples! It is small enough to fit in my office and the wheels make moving the unit a breeze. When I saw the Fellowes name, I knew that I was getting an exceptional product and they have not let me down. I would recommend this unit to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sparky from Great Shredder I bought the fellowes shredder as a replacement for one I had nothing but trouble with. I didn't have the other shredder for more than 3 weeks and it would not shut off. It took over 7 months for them to honor their warranty and give me my money back. I have now had the Fellowes for several months trouble free. I do not have the time to plug and un-plug a product that is supposed to be automatic. My time is too valuable to have to baby a product. When it came time ot replace the shredder I went with a brand I knew from previous experience and I am so happy I bought the PS-79Ci. It has been truely hassel and trouble free. Great Product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by JeffR from Great Product I have been very pleased with this product. It is the quietest shredder I have ever used. It quickly detects when I put in too many sheets and backs them up so I can remove them without causing a jam. I can use it for extended periods without it shutting down. Only two minor "complaints" - and they truly are minor: 1) the safety mechanism is very sensitive to the proximity of fingers. When I insert smaller items (receipts, credit cards) it will shut down briefly. 2) The "basket full" detector comes on while there is still room in the basket. Opening the bin and pushing the contents down gives me the equivalent of another "full" basket.
